ASSI Empowers Farmers Through Sustainable Agriculture Training in Warrap:
On February 17, 2026, ASSI successfully conducted a Sustainable Agricultural Workshop in Warrap Town, Tonj North County.
The programme brought together 25 participants, including church leaders and community members who are committed to improving food security in their communities. The training was organised and facilitated by Rev. Peter Chol and Rev. Joseph Kon Deng, under the leadership of Rev. Dut Kuot.
ASSI would also like to express its gratitude to Barnabas Aid for supporting this life-changing project. Communities in Tonj North County are gaining knowledge and tools to overcome hunger and build stronger, more resilient livelihoods through this partnership. This training is another major step on the ASSI’s journey to combat poverty, build communities, and offer hope to families in need.
Cultivating Resilience: Sustainable Farming for Vulnerable Families:
Barnabas Aid and ASSI continue to work together to alleviate hunger and poverty in Tonj North County and beyond through the Integrated Livelihoods and Food Security (ILFS) for Vulnerable Christian Households programme. In this conflict-torn area, families struggle with chronic food insecurity, poverty, and limited agricultural resources.
Households lack the necessary knowledge, tools, or seeds to cultivate, and they are often unable to produce enough food to sustain themselves. By strengthening farming knowledge and skills, ASSI aims to empower households to grow their own food, increase productivity, and reduce dependence on emergency aid.

Our Approach:
ASSI helps communities build long-term resilience through the provision of:
- Training in sustainable and climate-smart farming practices.
- Seeds and farming tools for low-income households.
- Community workshops led by experienced field staff.
- Funding from local churches, partners and community networks.
Why This Programme Matters:
The first workshop in Warrap Town trained 25 locals who will pass their knowledge on to other members of the community and develop supportive skills for sustainable agriculture.
When families learn how to farm sustainably, they can:
- Produce sustainable food for their families.
- They improve the nutrition and living standard of their children.
- Strengthen community resilience to future crises.
